About

The Absurdist stands as an active countercultural critique against an overtly postmodern world view on the one hand, while on the other, is equally critical against the contemporary reactionary right. As High Tory conservatives our staff and writers work to provide insights from many angles and actively work towards the three transcendentals: the true, the beautiful, and the good. It is our hope that we may transcend, the often pointed but limited in scope, critiques of a modern relativistic kind. In avoiding claims of moral rightness or wrongness, we seek to explore the interim via classical thought and contemplative meditation.

Our Founders.

Caleb Silveira is the founder and host of the Absurdist show and Podcast. He is passionate about nuanced philosophic debate, theology, political science, contemplative studies, and classical thought. He believes that via constructionism, such conversations can shift the framework of contemporary strife and balance tribal tendencies. He has a B.S degree in English literature and History. Currently, he is conducting an M.A in Theology and Culture. As a High Tory thinker, Caleb aims to live in the complex realities and reasoning of contemporary political discourse in hopes of reaching conclusions apt for the common good.

Ryan is an active outdoorsman, amateur historian and graphic artist for the Absurdist show and podcast. Born in Abbotsford, B.C, Ryan’s interest in history was discovered when he learned of his genetic ties to the settlers of New England. Ryan first met the founder and media coordinator, Caleb Silveira and Adam Magalhaes, respectively, at the University of the Fraser where they all shared in a bevy of religious studies programs. Outside of his studies, Ryan is a hobbyist photographer and sports shooter.

Adam is Catholic and a natural (yet) rational contrarian. A bilingual globetrotter, military enthusiast and geopolitics aficionado with an interest in the outdoors, physical fitness, philosophy, and language. Currently exiled in the Prairies, and away from the Absurdist’s homeland British Columbia, Adam is about to enter his third year of post-secondary education, with a major in Political Science and a extended minor in History. Tired of the left-right dichotomy, the pervasiveness of identity politics, and hedonistic individualism, Adam has found refuge within the Absurdist’s network. He also serves as the media coordinator and event manager for the Absurdist’s affairs.
